Leash Walking Tips
- When buying a leash for your Chihuahua, remember that their neck is small and quite delicate compared to other dogs. The type of leash you buy is very important. Be sure that is it lightweight and with a clasp appropriate to the size of ring attachment for their collar/harness.
- While in the training phase, do not use a retractable leash. They could pull or yank from you and that can cause injury to their delicate neck structure.
- Instead of a collar, purchase a body-harness for your Chihuahua. If fitted correctly, it will provide a comfortable and secure restraint.
- Ideally, a harness that does not touch your Chihuahua's throat should be selected.
